As we transition from winter into spring, many of us in the midwest are at a loss for ideas on how to transition our wardrobes, and how to do so in a way that will stand out and be fashion forward. Last week I had the opportunity to meet with Summer Wagner, owner of Lillians of Sioux Falls, to discuss some of the current and upcoming trends to watch for this spring.
The first thing that stood out was the bright coral and teal tones throughout the store. According to Summer, these bright colors are all over whats hot for the spring, and the brighter the better! Teal can be a great accent color, or a fantastic way to add a pop of color to your main wardrobe pieces. Teal Leather jackets can be added to vivid print dresses and basic leggings, or you could carry a gorgeous blue hand bag to accessorize your patterned top with the color.
Another on-trend look is aztec prints throughout your wardrobe. From dresses and tops, to stand-out leggings; aztec prints can be layered with your basic pieces to add a little flair to the ordinary!
Adding denim to any look can easily take an outfit from day to night. Imagine this adorable dress with a suit jacket over it, and it would be great for the office; but at night, adding this denim detailed faux leather jacket creates a look thats ready for a night on the town. Likewise, in the look above, you can take your late spring dresses and make them perfect for the cooler March/April weather by adding some aztec print leggings and a denim jacket for a little warmth.
Lastly, you can pump up the color in your wardrobe in an understated yet funky way, buy wearing bold prints in bright colors. Monotone looks can be dressed up or down with dress pants or jeans, and tunic tops with leggings can be a great way to show some color while being comfortable and classy.
